August

Boone County RR/WI-ILL State RR

BELVIDERE, ILL. – North central Illinois played host to the both the Wisconsin and Illinois state road races Aug. 30.

On the women’s side, Ava Paruleski and Mary Kremer helped Emily Marenger score the win in the 47-mile-long Cat. 4/5 race. In a very unofficial state podium for that category, Marenger took the top step followed by Kremer and Paruleski (Official championships are awarded to Cat. 3 and higher categories).

On the men’s side, Archer Munson was the team’s top finisher in the Cat. 4/5 race followed by Nate Phelps and Matt Becker. Official results were not immediately available.

Battle of CamRock (WORS #8)

CAMBRIDGE, WISC. – Joseph McCrary finished up his 2026 WORS series campaign with a 2nd-place age group finish. It was his best result of the season.

He’ll be back at the start line shortly for the 2026 WCA cyclocross season.

Nocturnal Cross

ALPINE VALLEY, WISC. – Pre-season CX racing kicked off under the lights at Alpine Valley in southeast Wisconsin Aug. 22.

Madison LeBeau nabbed a 3rd-place finish in the Women’s Cat. 3/4 race.

Mike LeBeau was 4th in the Masters Cat. 3/4 45+ while Joseph McCrary finished 6th in the Cat. 3/4 race (he finished 25th earlier in the night in Cat. 4/5).

Iowa Games Gravel Grinder

AMES, IOWA – Matt Hall nabbed a 2nd-place finish in the 60+ division at the Iowa Games Gravel Grinder in central Iowa Aug. 22.

The 30-mile course included a little more than 1,200 feet of climbing.

Race The Lake

FOND DU LAC, WISC. – Racers faced an altered course this year due to severe tornado damage in the Fox Cities three weeks ago.

The 88-mile race stayed on the east side of Lake Winnebago.

In the women’s race, Katie Kornaus finished 7th overall while taking the win in Wave 2 starters.

On the men’s side, Derek Moran finished 71st overall followed by Jon Lester (making his return to road racing) in 121st.

Treadfest (WORS #8) and Border Battle (WORS#9)

LAKE GENEVA, WISC. – A traditionally techy course, Joseph McCrary was the lone GVR rider at Treadfest in Lake Geneva on Aug. 15.

He finished up with a 7th-place age group result in the Sport division.

He backed that up Sunday with more WORS racing Sunday in Rockford, Ill. where a flat tire ended his day early.

Waupaca Sprint Tri

WAUPACA, WISC. – Making her GVR racing debut, Heather Mroczwenski scored an age group win in the Waupaca Sprint Tri on Aug. 15.

She finished the event just shy of 1:50 (with the help of sparkles).

Ore to Shore

MARQUETTE, MICH. – Ore to Shore in the first of the late-season mountain bike classics.

In the 28-mile Soft Rock race Rebecca Downs scored an 8th-place age group finish. She also checked off a few personal goals for the season.

In the 48-mile Hard Rock race, Chad Cannon finished 17th overall followed by Branden Downs in 97th.

Oshkosh Aurora Alley Cat

OSHKOSH, WISC. – The six-person “Good Gawd, Y’all” mountain bike relay team rode to a 3rd-place finish in this laid back race in Oshkosh.

The team was comprised of Big Daddy Ken Munson, Archer Munson, Julie Phelps, Nate Phelps, Henry Eberhart, and Bella Gruener.

Minnesota Senior Games

MANKATO, MINN. – Matt Hall continued his tour of upper Midwest senior games races with a stop in Minnesota August 8 and 9.

On Saturday he finished 3rd in the 20K TT and followed that up with a 4th-place finish in the 10K TT.

Sunday’s racing saw Hall take second in his age group in the 5K TT and the 40k road race.

Tuesday Night Track Racing (Aug. 4)

KENOSHA, WISC. – With just a few more weeks of racing left at the Washington Park Velodrome, Ken Munson made the trek to go in circles on Aug. 4.

He finished 4th in the combined Cat. 4/5 Miss-and-Out Race and the 10-lap Points race. He rounded out the night with a 6th-place finish in the points race after dong “too much pulling.”

Duel at Dickinson RR

IRON MOUNTAIN, MICH. – It’s tough to find an actual road race these days.

The Duel at Dickinson offers up almost 65 miles of undulating racing across two states (Michigan and Wisconsin).

In the women’s race, Julie Phelps scored the win followed by Emily Marenger in 2nd, Ava Paruleski in 3rd, and Jaime LeCapitiane in 5th.

On the men’s side, Daniel Morrell put up the top team finish in 10th followed by Matt Becker in 18th, Matt Hall in 25th, and Nate Phelps in 26th.

Refo Ramble

SUAMICO, WISC. – The most recent stop of the WORS mountain bike series rolled into the Green Bay area the first week in August.

Rebecca Downs kicked off the day’s racing with an 8th-place age group finish (in the largest age group) in the Citizen’s Women’s division.

In the Men’s Sport division, Joseph McCrary nabbed a 4th-place finish in his age group followed by Archer Munson in 9th. Mark Schindel was 3rd in the Clydesdale race while Derek Moran was a DNF due to a crash.

In the Men’s Comp race, Branden Downs finished second in his age group.

Jon Lester (making his return to MTB racing after a multi-year absence) scored a 2nd-place finish in the Men’s 50+ Elite race.

In Saturday night short track racing, Derek Moran took the age group win the Sport division. In a slightly younger age group, while Joseph McCrary finished 3rd followed by Archer Munson in 4th.

Chequamegon 100 (50K)

SPIDER LAKE, WISC. – Mike LeBeau and Maddie LeBeau started their August with a day in the dirt riding the 50K race at the Cheq 100 in northern WIsconsin.

Maddie LeBeau finished 6th in the women’s race while Mike LeBeau was 28th in the men’s division.

Bluff to Bluff RR

ARPIN, WISC. – Remember when I said it was hard to find road races these days? It was a double weekend for them with the Bluff to Bluff RR going off Sunday near Marshfield.

Nelsen Wahlstrom finished 6th overall (1st in age group) in the 49-mile race followed by Matt Hall in 25th (2nd in age group).

Wisconsin State Time Trial

STOUGHTON, WISC. – Twenty-five miles. More than 600 feet of climbing. And the clock.

That’s the Wisconsin State TT in a nutshell.

Sally Lester and Matt Becker both picked up state champion titles in their respective categories with wins.

Jon Lester and Matt Hall brought home second-place finishes.

Derek Moran finished 4th while both Nate Phelps and Ava Paruleski scored 5th-place finishes in their race divisions.

Wausau 24

WAUSAU, WISC. – The end of July means it’s time of the Wausau 24 mountain bike race.

In the 12-hour solo race, Chad Cannon scored the win, completing 12 lap. He was followed by Branden Downs in 6th and Archer Munson in 26th.

Jeremy Pomeroy and Nelsen Wahlstrom were part of a four-man team with Caleb Bush and Ben Bluhm that scored a second-place finish in the 12-hour team race.

In the 24-hour co-ed division, Kris Tiles and Mark Schindel went one full spin around the clock to take 4th in the race.

Riverwest 24

MILWAUKEE, WISC. – Part community part and part eclectic bike race, the Riverwest 24 has become a staple of summer in the Cream City.

Joseph McCrary is the first GVR raider to make a start in the event.

He unexpected rode the event solo, making an early exit after 13 laps and four bonus checkpoints.

Lake Country Tri

OCONOMOWOC, WISC. – Making her second tri start of the season, Emily Marenger took on the Half Iron Man distance at the Lake Country Tri near Milwaukee.

She finished the event in 5:49, good for a third-place age group finish.

Tuesday Night Track Racing (7/21/26)

KENOSHA, WISC. – Ken Munson was back on the banked concrete of the Washington Park Velodrome for Tuesday night racing on July 21.

He raced the elimination and 500 meter chariot races as well as the 25 lap combined Cat. 4/5 and women’s race where he finished 7th overall.

Iowa Senior Games

BOONE, IOWA – Senior games across the nation pack a lot of racing into a short amount of time.

Matt Hall made the trip to central Iowa for that state’s games on July 18 and 19.

He notched a second-place finish in the 5K TT; a second-place finish in the 10K TT; and a win in the 20K TT.

He was scored in second place in his age group in Sunday’s road race.

Minigamie Bike Challenge

CHICAGO, ILL. – Sharon Bauch has built much of her season around the 484-mile Minigamie Bicycle Challenge.

The event takes riders from Chicago to Ludington. Mich, then across Lake Michigan to Manitowoc, Wisc. and back to Chicago.

Her race came to end in Waukegan, Ill., after 437.43 miles of riding.

Nicolet Roche Boulder Dash

WOLF RIVER, WISC. – Throwing a little dirt in the weekend’s results, Branden Downs rode to a 3rd-place finish in the six-hour race at the Nicolet Roche Boulder Dash in north central Wisconsin Saturday.

The race is part of the Wisconsin Endurance Mountain Bike Series.

Bluenose Gopher 50 Gravel Race

GRANITE FALLS, MINN. – Despite a late start (that means missing the start), Matt Christiaansen battled Minnesota gravel for almost 55 miles to score an 11th-place overall finish in the event.

Triple Bypass

ELK MEADOW PARK, COLO. Katie Kornaus has her share of hills south of Madison, but she took on a larger challenge at the Triple Bypass ride in Colorado July 11.

She finished 121-mile ride that features about 10,500 feet of climbing in just under eight hours. It is also listed as her “longest ride ever” on Strava.

2026 USA Cycling Masters Nationals TT and RR

FALL RIVER, WISC. – Masters road nationals retuned to Wisconsin for a second year at the tail end of the ToAD series of races.

WORS #5 (Waukesha)

WAUKESHA, WISC. – One last race before it gets really hot for the week.

The WORS series of mountain bike races rolled into southeast Wisconsin June 27 and 28.

In Saturday’s short track race, Joseph McCrary and Derek Moran scored uncontested age group wins (and finished 4th and 5th overall).

Sunday’s cross country race saw Moran score a second-place age group finish while McCrary was 5th in his age division.

Mark Schindel was 5th in the Clydesdale Division.

Duck Creek Tri

HOWARD, WISC. – Emily Marenger kicked off her brief 2026 tri season with an age group win and second place overall in the women’s division at the Duck Creek Tri near Green Bay Sunday.

Marquette Trails Fest

MARQUETTE, MICH. – GVR riders headed north to Marquette, Mich., June 28th for cross-country MTB racing on the trail system in that city.

Chad Cannon finished the day in 9th-place in the 30 mile race that features more than 3,000 feet of climbing.

2026 Tour of America’s Dairyland

EASTERN WISCONSIN – For the past 18 years the Tour of America’s Dairyland has been a staple on the Wisconsin — and national — racing calendar.

Through the first half of the 11-day event, GVR riders have made the rounds (literally) in the races.

The Blender Gravel Race

RIB MOUNTAIN, WISC. – The WORS MTB series is running a set of three gravel races this year. Stop number two was Near Wausau on June 13.

In the 25-mile race, Joseph McCrary, Archer Munson and Jay Birkholz (single speed) went 3,4,5 in the under 40 division. Ava Paruleski was 3rd in the Women’s race followed by Niki Birkholz in 4th.

In the 50-mile race, Mary Kremer took to the overall women’s win, while Nate Phelps recovered from a flat tire at mile 36 to finish 14th overall.

WORS #4 Wausau

RIB MOUNTAIN, WISC. – Singletrack replaced gravel for Sunday (and Saturday) WORS races in Wausau.

Rebecca Downs kicked off the day’s racing with a 6th-place age group finish in the Women’s Citizen’s race.

In the Sport division age groups: Derek Moran finished 3rd; Joseph McCrary 6th; Archer Munson 2nd (Fat bike); and Mark Schindel 5th.

Branden Downs wrapped up the days racing with a 2nd-place finish in the Comp division.

In late Saturday racing, Joseph McCrary scored an uncontested age group win in the Short Track race.

The Hotdish

WINONA, MINNESOTA – Southeast Minnesota has plenty of gravel, and the Brent Rohrs lined up to ride 60 miles of it as part of The Hotdish races.

Rohrs managed a 6th-place age division finish after a mid-race crash found him limping home to finish.

ABR ILL State TT

GARDEN PRAIRIE, ILL – Matt Hall headed south for the 20K ABR Illinois State TT on June 13.

He faced off against the wind and fellow riders to score a 2nd-place finish in what is essentially the 65+ division.

Tuesday Night Track Racing (6/9/26)

KENOSHA, WISC. – Why wait for the weekends to race where there’s track racing to be had on a Tuesday night?

Ken Munson made the weekday trek to the Washington Park Velodrome on June 9th.

He finished 2nd in the Cat. 5 Snowball Points race and 3rd in the Cat.5 Miss-And-Out Race.

Refo24

SUAMICO, WISC. – The Refo24 mountain bike race near Green Bay offers riders 6, 12, and 24 hour race options on the trials of the Brown County Reforestation camp.

In the six-hour solo races, Jaime LeCapaitine rode the win in the Women’s Fat Bike division while Chad Cannon scored a 6th-place finish in the Men’s race.

In the six-hour Men’s Duo race, Nate Phelps and Matt Becker teamed up to take the win over Chris Edwards and Derek Moran.

In 12-hour racing, Kris Tiles rode just shy of 100 miles to score in the win in the Women’s Masters race. Archer Munson and Brent Rohrs hung on for a 2nd-place finish in the dark in the Men’s Duo race.

Mark Schindel was the team’s lone 24-hour racer. He finished 14th.

May

Extremely Flat TT

OCONTO, WISC. – With a little more than 150 feet of climbing over 22 miles the Extremely Flat TT is … extremely flat.

Matt Becker took the overall Men’s Division win followed by Nate Phelps in 5th.

In the Women’s race, Julie Phelps scored the win followed by Ava Paruleski in second. It was Paruleski’s competitive TT debut.

Sussex Criterium

SUSSEX, WISC. – With summer rolling in, Wisconsin’s crit season is reaching the mid point of the season (If you count Tour of America’s Dairyland).

Mary Kremer made her crit racing debut Saturday alongside Emily Marenger and Jaime LeCapitaine in the Women’s Cat. 4/5 race.

The day ended with Marenger in 5th; Kremer in 6th, and LeCapitaine in 9th.

Quad Cities Regional Senior Games

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS – What better way to start a weekend than Friday racing .

Matt Hall scored the win from a early break in the 20K road race. He paired that with a second-place finish in the 10K TT.

He then had a hankering for dinner at Denny’s.

Coulee Crusher Gravel Race

LA CRESENT, MINN. – The driftless region of Minnesota was the backdrop to first stop on the new WORS gravel race series.

Matt Hall rode to a 20th-place overall finish in the 54-mile race with more than 4,000 feet of climbing.

Mad City Bike Jam

MADISON, SOUTH DAKOTA – Wait, there’s a Madison, South Dakota?

Matt Christiaansen rolled in the Mad Town Bike Jam gravel race Saunday and nabbed an 8th-place overall finish in the 50ish-mile race.

WORS #3 (La Crosse/ORA Trails Fest)

LA CROSSE, WISC. – Riders rolled into southwest Wisconsin for two-days of gavel (see above) and mountain bike races.

Derek Moran wrapped up the weekend’s events with a second-place age group finish in the Sport division of the cross-country MTB race.

Tuesday Night Track Racing (May 19)

KENOSHA, WISC. – Ken Munson kicked off his 2026 track racing schedule May 19. It was also the first night on a new track bike.

He finished second in the six-lap points race in Cat. 5. He followed that up a third-place finish in the scratch race and a not-last-place finish in the 15-lap temp race.

Wisconsin State Criterium

MEQUON, WISC. – It was a solid day of racing for GVR riders at the Wisconsin State Crit at Concordia College near Milwaukee on May 16.

Daniel Morell made his GVR racing debut in the Masters 35+ 4/5 division finishing 4th overall after a late-race crash. It was good enough to earn him a 3rd-place finish amongst Wisconsin riders. Nate Phelps finished 4th in the Masters 50+ Cat. 4/5 race, also good for a 3rd-place Wisconsin finish.

In the open Cat. 4/5 race, Daniel Morell finished 8th followed by Archer Munson in 19th and Nate Phelps in 22nd.

Archer Munson doubled up into the Cat. 3/4 race where he finished 23rd.

Jaime LeCapitaine launched her crit racing career with a solid 8th-place finish in the Women’s Cat. 4/5 race.

Calvin’s Challenge

SPRINGFIELD, OHIO – It was a 12-hour day — solo — on the bike for Sharon Bauch at the endurance road races at Clavin’s Challenge May 16.

She pounded out 173 over half a day, battling wind and rain, to finish 3rd for women in the non-drafting race.

WORS #2 (Englewood Open)

FALL RIVER, WISC. – It’s back-to-back race weekends for the WORS Series of mountain bike races.

Riders rolled into a beef-farm-turned-racing-venue for the second event in as many weeks.

Rebecca Downs made her 2026 season racing debut with a 9th-place age group finish in the Citizens Women’s division.

In Sport racing, Joseph McCrary nabbed a 4th-place age group finish while Derek Moran was 6th in his bracket.

Branden Downs rounded out the day’s racing with a 4th-place age group finish in the Comp division.

Muskego Park Criterium

MUSKEGO, WISC. – It was a fast start to Mother’s Day weekend for Tracy Peters at the Muskego Park Crit near Milwaukee.

She launched a late, uphill, attack to score the win in the Women’s 35+ race.

It’s her second win of the road season.

Snacking Bear 60 and Climbing Cub 25 (singlespeed)

CABLE, WISC. – Spring gravel racing rolled on May 9 in northwest Wisconsin with Nelsen Wahlstrom and Jeremy Pomeroy hitting up the family of Hungry Bear 100 races.

In the Snacking Bear 60-mile race, Wahlstrom finished 5th overall which was good for second in his age group.

Pomeroy nabbed an age group in (8th overall) riding a singlespeed in the Climbing Cub 25 mile race.

The Bear 100; Granny’s Gravel Grinder; Cheesehead Roubaix

WISCONSIN AND MINNESOTA – It was all about gravel and dirt this weekend, with some tarmac chucked in for good measure.

At the Bear 100 in Laona, Wisconsin, Diane Callaway scored a third-place age group finish in the 61-mile race. Morgan Fisher started her season with a 7th-place age group finish in the 31-mile event.

Jon Lester finished 51st overall in the men’s 61-mile race followed by Robert Sorenson in 122nd and Bob Callaway in 123rd.

Joseph McCrary was the sole team rider in the 103-mile race. He finished in 31st.

Matt Christiaansen lined up for the 56-mile Granny’s Gravel Grinder race near Princeton, Minnesota. He finished the race 74th in the men’s division.

Back before there were more gravel events that you knew what to do with, there was Cheesehead Roubaix.

The 65-mile ride used a new route this year. Emily Marenger, Ava Paruleski, Julie Phelps, and Nate Phelps, all finished the event.

WORS #1 (Eau Claire)

EAU CLAIRE, WISC. – The WORS mountain bike series kicked off it’s 2026 season with a return to racing in Eau Claire, a city that has been off the schedule for several seasons.

Derek Moran rode to a 4th-place age group finish in the Sport division. Mark Schindel was 5th in his group, also in the sport division.

Rookies and Rockstars Tri

ST. PETERS, MISSOURI – Why just ride when you can run and swim too?

Kensa Koeppen rolled (well, ran), into an age group win at this event Sunday.

Battle on the Border

KENOSHA, WISC. – The 2026 WCA road season kicked off with a tight and fast half-mile crit course in Kenosha.

On the women’s side, Emily Marenger made her crit racing debut with a 10th-place finish in the Women’s Cat. 4/5 race. Tracy Peters kicked off her season with a win in the Women’s 35+ Cat. 1/2/3/4 race.

Nate Phelps finished 8th in the men’s Masters 35+ 4/5 race. Archer Munson took 41st in the Cat. 4/5 race followed by Nate Phelps in 43rd.

Archer Munson rounded out his day with a 44th-place finish in the Cat. 3/4 race.

Rough Road 100

MORRIS, ILL – What’s become one of the team’s traditional season kickoff event, this year’s Rough Road 100 went off in some of the best conditions of its 10 year history.

On the women’s side: Julie Phelps scored a 4th-place finish in the USAC Masters 35+ race. Mary Kremer took 20th in the USAC Women’s Open race followed by Ava Paruleski in 26th and Emily Marenger in 27th. Sharon Bauch over came a late-race crash to finish 312th in the 100K Open race. Jaime LeCapitaine completed the 64K race.

In the men’s races: Nate Phelps finished 52nd in the USAC Masters 35+ race. In the Open 100K race, Joseph McCrary was 156th followed by Mark Schindel in 208th, and Matt Hall in 245th.

Alabama Masters Games

MOBILE, AL. – Brian Kult kicked off the team’s 2026 road season with a podium finish in the 20K road race at the Alabama Masters Games March 14.

He finshed 3rd in his race.

Dirty South Roubaix

ALTO PASS, ILL – Eight inches of rain in the week leading up to the Dirty South Roubaix created some interesting challenges — and big ruts and erosion – on the gravel roads of this event.

Derek Moran finished his annual kick off to the season with a 51st-place finish in the 61-mile race in southern Illinois on March 7.

Sweaty Yeti

NEILSVILLE, WISC. – There’s no guarantee in March that you’re going to be racing a fat bike on snow. Sometimes it’s mud.

Nelsen Wahlstrom teamed up with Caleb Bush to score the overall win in the men’s two-man team division at the snow-free Sweaty Yeti Fatbike Race in Neilsville, Wisc., Saturday.

U.S. Fat Bike Open

BRILLIION, WISC. – The final stop of the 2026 Snow Crown Series saw races roll on the groomed trails of the Ariens Nordic Center in Brillion, Wisconsin, on Feb. 7.

Jaime LeCapatine rode to a 5th-place finish in the women’s beginner race.

January

Fat Camp

SUAMICO, WISC. – Five degrees below zero. Remember that when we’re racing in July.

Jaime LeCapitaine dressed just right for the conditions at the Fat Camp fat bike race at the Reforestation Camp near Green Bay Jan. 24. She finished 6th overall in the Women’s Beginners division.

This was the second event in the Snow Crown series of races.

Fatty Shack

LEDGEVIEW, WISC. – The 2026 racing season kicked off the Fatty Shack fat bike near Green Bay. It’s the first event in the Snow Crown series of fat bike races.

Jaime LeCapitaine finished 6th in Women’s Beginners division while Archer Munson was 32nd in the Men’s Intermediate race.
