Monthly Rewind: Hello 2026!

After getting spoiled with a few milder winters, this one felt more like a Wisconsin winter — including a March blizzard that dropped more than two feet of snow in our primary riding areas.

Here’s a look back at 2026 so far. There are some nice fat bike race results as well as the first chutes of the 2026 gravel season.

2025 Rewind + December Results

Twelve months feels like both a long time and the blink of an eye when you look back on it.

GVR riders had a fantastic season that saw a lot of miles, events, and laughs packed in into 2025.

Riders brought home four Wisconsin state champions, a Masters National TT podium for women, overall wins and leaders jerseys at the La Crosse Omnium and the Tour of America’s Dairyland. That’s in addition to numerous personal goals and wins and podiums in races throughout the Midwest and other parts of the country.

Monthly Rewind: November

Well, at least we missed the snow for the WCA cyclocross season.

November came and went with GVR riders finishing out the Wisconsin ‘cross season with a smattering of podiums and a first-time winner (Joseph McCrary).

It also saw both Brent Rohrs (Masters 50+ 1/2/3) and Chad Cannon (Cat. 1/2/3) secure second-place finish overall series finishes in their racing divisions.

One more month and 2025 moves into the history books.

Monthly Rewind: June

Summer finally arrived in June — and a lot of racing came with it.

Tracy Peters gutted out 10 days of racing at the Tour of America’s Dairyland while new GVR riders continued to making their racing debut with some nice results.

GVR riders also made appearances (and one podium) at the USA Cycling Juniors & Masters Road Nationals in southeast Wisconsin at the end of the month.

2025 USA Cycling Masters Nationals Time Trial

Junior and “experienced” riders from around the nation headed to southeastern Wisconsin at the end of June for American cycling’s premier event of the season — national championships.

With the time trial essentially in our back yard (yeah, never mind those two- to five-hour drives home), a half dozen GVR riders went to the line for across four different age and gender groupings.

Matt Hall was the first to the line where he finished 16th.

Matt Becker powered to an 12th-place finish in his age group.

Jon Lester was 12th, Nate Phelps 16th and Derek Moran 16th in their age grouping.

On the women’s side, Julie Phelps rode to a 5th-place age group finish followed by Sally Lester in 8th.
