It’s been a tough spring to ride in the upper Midwest. Windy and chilly seems to sum it up.
But Rule No. 5 and all, our riders have been on out riding and racing the past two months.
The road season just got underway and there’s a lot more racing planned in the coming in the months, even if the tan lines are a little lacking right now.

There’s light at the end of the tunnel.
The days are longer and high temperatures no longer have a minus (-) sign in front of them.
But the team had riders active (and picking up strong results) through the darkest and coldest months of the year.
We’re all looking forward to snow-free rides and that first accidental sunburn of the season in March.

The 2025 season marks a decade of racing and riding for the team.
We’ve covered a lot of tarmac, dirt, mud, grass and snow in the past 10 seasons.
We’re looking forward to what the decade decade of racing in the upper Midwest and the nation have to bring (besides drastically new age groups for all of us).

What a season.
Races wrapped up in December with GVR riders scoring wins and podiums at the Illinois State CX Championship and U.S. Cyclocross Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky.
The final results of the year capped off a great season for the team that saw team riders make 529 race stats which were good for 93 wins and 106 podiums.
As one year exits, we look forward to a new one.

November was full gas with seven CX races in Wisconsin and a couple in Minnesota.
Riders scored a number of wins and podiums, including one Wisconsin State CX title.

CAMBRIDGE, WISC. – Julie Phelps reached a career milestone Nov. 16 at the CamRock & Roll CX race near Madison when she started her 400th career race.
Phelps began racing ‘cross in 2009. She capped off her Ironwoman milestone with a slow-motion bike throw for the “win” while riding with women’s singlespeed “tootle train” in the Women’s 1/2/3 SS race.
The event was commemorated by the Gelbbrucke squad out of Milwaukee
Phelps completed races 401 to 403 the following day.
A dry October in much of the upper Midwest helped save wear and tear on a lot of gear as the ‘cross season hit full stride then mountain bike season entered its final phases.
Team members put up a number of strong results — nabbing wins and podiums at large events like Trek Cup and small local races.

Summer held on a few extra weeks in Wisconsin to wrap up the road season, usher in the cyclocross season and make the few remining mountain bike races enjoyable.
The month also saw the last of our squad heading the 2025 National Senior games get qualified in Wisconsin. Cycling events at the National Senior Games span four days next summer in Des Moines, Iowa.
August saw both the road and mountain bike seasons start the inevitable process of winding down.
It was a good month for the team on both the pavement and the dirt with a number of wins and podiums, as well as one MTB state championship title.
The team’s season rolls on in September with a smattering of road races, the start of the cyclocross season and the NICA MTB season.

July was another big month of racing highlighted by a pair of Wisconsin state championship titles on the road for GVR riders in their respective categories/age groups.
More state titles are on the line in August with both the Wisconsin State Road Race and the Wisconsin State MTB race.
